PORTRAIT PROJECT
WELCOME
My name is Buki Koshoni.
I’m a London-based, award-winning artist, and a 20 year former resident of Camden.
As a professional photographer specialising in portrait photography, I’ve been in the industry for over a decade and have had the privilege of photographing a host of celebrities, for major publications such as Vanity Fair, The Sunday Times & The Independent.
My photography style is conceptual and aesthetic, with a focus on capturing the personality of my subjects.
I believe that every person has a story to tell, and it's my job as a photographer to bring that story to life through my lens.
THE CONCEPT
To create stunning portraits of ten hand-picked, female “House of KoKo” members.
A curated selection of talented & successful female patrons.
A celebration of female creatives.
Forming a rich microcosm, of the incredibly talented and diverse community, that epitomises the ethos and patrons of House of KoKo.
A series of black & white, studio-based portraits.
Minimal, engaging and revealing.
THE EXHIBITION
To be held on the ground floor House of KoKo gallery, or a suitable location within the premises.
The ten A1 (33 x 24 inches) framed prints with white mount, printed with museum quality inks on archival paper,will create a breathtaking exhibition.
The individual framed portraits will be sold through auction, to both members of the public and KoKo patrons.
The proceeds shall be split between House of KoKo & The KoKo (charity) Foundation.
Allowing KoKo to break even on the project with profits available for donation to the KoKo Foundation.
STYLING & MAKEUP
Monochromatic. Black & White
Simple. Minimal. Strong.
Selecting from a monochromatic palette, the subtle black & white styling will compliment the black & white aesthetic of the imagery, creating strong, formidable portraits, that draw attention to subject over location, while limiting distraction, allowing the viewer’s gaze to rest on the subject, creating an intimate, soulful and reflective portrait.
I work closely with stylists and designers to choose outfits that complement the subject's features and personality, while also fitting the overall theme of the shoot. This attention to detail ensures that every element of the portrait, from the lighting to the clothing, works together to create a cohesive and striking image.
Studio | Buki Koshoni, has long established links with London-based, industry leading stylists and fashion PR consultants.
We encourage each portrait subject to bring a one or two items of black clothing, although styling will be provided.

THE SHOOT
A creatively productive environment is our goal, achieved through a laid back, relaxed shoot, with minimal crew.
Each shoot should last no longer than thirty minutes to an hour. (Depending on the arrived readiness of each portrait subject.)
The team & I, make sure to thoroughly research each portrait subject, creating an informal, yet productive atmosphere onset.
This includes their persona, style and any previous work they've done that we can draw on for connection and inspiration, tailoring each shoot to the subject, creating a more personalised and impactful portrait.
It's important the subject feel comfortable and at ease. Through mutual collaboration with the subject, we can create a portrait that truly captures their unique character.

KoKo is a Camden institution, an integral and historic pillar of the community, who’s pedigree and influence stretches far beyond the limits of its borough, achieving that elusive success of global recognition and international impact.
If an institution is only as strong as it’s patrons, then it is these very patrons I hope to celebrate, through a series of intimate, beautifully crafted portraits, that will live on for another 100 years, just like Koko itself.
